Unfortunately federal torts coverage does not apply to speciality care unless the physician actually is employed by the FQHC. We can contract for work but it has to be in the primary care disciplines and the provider must spend at least 30-35 hours on site. That is the discussion we are currently having with the Medical Society - trying to get them to have their volunteer or retired members see our patients and the Medical Society would pick up a blanket malpratice policy for these providers.
